AH! I was planning on HW & Vine for BF (w/ characters), then Sci Fi for lunch, then 50sPT for dinner. Now I'm wondering about switching 1 for Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic Dining into the mix. (3 young kids) I know I can't do everything. What to do

Wow Andrea!  You have planned for a big day at Hollywood Studios!  And it is hard not to want to do everything when so many great options are out there for you to choose from.

Starting your day at Hollywood and Vine is fun with characters.  Kids love any interaction they can get with any characters while at Disney.  Sci Fi and Primetime have always been two of our families choices and we usually alternate with our trips to the park.  I think if the kids are young they might prefer the Sci Fi setting a little bit more as the humor at Primetime might be over their heads sometimes.

If Fantasmic is something you definitely wish to do that day then I do suggest a dining package. This gives you preferred seating so you are not worrying about getting into the show.  However, your dining time might be quite early depending on the park hours and the Fantasmic show times for the day. I just booked today as a matter of fact a Fantasmic dining package for the Brown Derby and Fantasmic time is 8:30pm.  I was only able to get a 4:15 reservation.  If this happens to you it will mean you must decide on three meals at the park or just two as having lunch and then an early dinner will not be in the best interest for your family.

I suggest you see what is available for Fantasmic dining package times and then proceed from there. If you can get something reasonable then let your dinner ressie go.  If you have to have an early dinner time then plan on either just breakfast or an early lunch to go with it.  It means choices but you certainly don't want to overload yourself with dining and waste money for food not eaten.  You are always welcome to step inside restaurants to take a look around to see the decor and ambience so you can plan for your next visit!
