My DS age 2 is frightened of characters. We leave for WDW in 27 days and I am wondering what we should do if he starts crying during character dining (other children are ages 8,6,4, infant.) Any tips to try and prepare him before the trip?

    Hi Amy,

I've been taking my boys to Walt Disney World since before their first birthday.  As such, we've had plenty of experience with tots who were a bit afraid of the characters.  I think the character meals are a great way to introduce your two-year-old to some of his favorite Disney pals.  You should start by telling him that the characters look a bit different in person than they do on television.  They are usually about as big as mom or dad (and in some cases, bigger).  If your son is nervous, when the characters come to your table, you can tell him that he can just wave or blow a kiss.  The characters are very accustomed to dealing with a variety of children and personalities, and will be very happy to give a friendly wave from a distance.  I hope your son and entire family have a magical trip.  Happy planning!
