Frozen Greetings, Denise!
Welcome Home and welcome back to planDisney! If you want to build a snowman, or at least pretend to, a day at
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park is the perfect place to do so. How exciting that you are going to let it go when you are free falling down water slides into the unknown on your upcoming Disney vacation!
Now, one important thing to note, Denise, is that
Blizzard Beach is currently closed for refurbishments and we are unsure of its opening date. However,
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is currently open and you can ride the Hawaiian roller coaster ride there instead. For future reference, however, I would tell you that if you are looking for a private sanctuary for warm hugs in the sun at Blizzard Beach, the
Blizzard Beach Polar Patios are the perfect place to do so. We rented one of these two years ago, and it is a fantastic way to enjoy a private spot during your day. Yes, you are correct, it is quite similar to the
Beachcomber Shacks at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon.Because Blizzard Beach may be closed during your visit, I would recommend making a reservation instead for one of the Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon. Here you will have your own dedicated space, a locker, seating for 6 Guests (though up to 10 Guests are allowed), towels, ice water all day, and you receive refillable souvenir mugs for each Guest. You will also have a dedicated attendant with whom you can order lunch and snacks. It's the best-kept secret since Elsa revealed her frosty powers.
One tip, Denise is that I recommend
making the reservations for the Beachcomber Shack in advance. But if you can't, you can try getting to the water park before rope drop and go directly to the reservation window to see if there are any available. When I was there last, these were in high demand and we got the last one available.
You are correct that you do not need a reservation for the waterparks at this time, although that is subject to change. Remember, if you are an
eligible DVC Member, you get
a discount on your tickets for Disney Water Parks currently. As long as your DVC Membership is connected to your My Disney Experience account and you are logged in when you purchase the tickets, you should be able to access the discount at the time of purchase.
I hope this helps you, Denise and you enjoy your time at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon. I love happy endings!
Magically Yours,
Keri
