Hello again...sorry asking a lot of Q this am! We r a family of 5. Going to stay at POR in July. Never stayed there b4. We r dvc not using points this trip. Is paying for river view worth $? Would like a room centrally located. What do you think? TY!

    Hi Michelle,

Please do not apologize for asking questions! The Disney Parks Moms Panel is here to help you with all of your Walt Disney World vacation planning questions, and we love doing so! I was able to tour Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside recently. It is beautiful.

There are many options for room types and views at Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside. I called and spoke with a very helpful cast member there. You will need to be sure that the room you stay in can accommodate five guests. I am not sure of the age of all of the members of your traveling party. If a child under three years old is in the party, that child is considered an infant and will not be included in the count of people in your party, so in that case, you could request a room for four. However, if everyone is three years of age or older, you will need a room for five.

If you are a party of five people ages three and over, you will need to stay in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort, where rooms can accommodate five people. I personally love a good view from my room, but you should consider how much time your family will be spending in the room to determine if the extra money for a river view is worth it for you. It might be best for you to consider spending the extra money on a preferred room since you mention that you would like a centrally located room. The preferred room category refers to location rather than view. Preferred rooms in Alligator Bayou are in buildings 14, 15, 18, and 27. The room closest to the main building, dining locations, and bus stop is 14.

I found the unofficial site portorleans.org to have a lot of information on Disney's Port Orleans Riverside. If you visit there, you might find some other good information for planning your room preference. Please do keep coming back with your questions, Michelle! We on the Disney Parks Moms Panel love to help you plan your next magical vacation.
