Hi again, Kay! We are planning on going to one of the Disney water parks. Carla mentioned that she's never been to either, so you may not know, but would you recommend one over the other for a 5 year old (under 48" tall)?

Hi Katie! Well, there is certainly a variance in opinions on our panel about your question as I put it out to them for their advice.  I have also not visited one of the water parks yet due to bad weather when they have been in our plans!  From what I gather you can't go wrong at either one but will share their thoughts so you can decide from their tidbits!

Many like Typhoon Lagoon for the smaller kids as they can play in the shallow part of the wave pool and experience the waves safely.  Some feel this water park is a bit more kid friendly but there is a jump from the simple splash area to the larger slides so children in the 5/6 age might get bored?  The family raft ride fits four and is short but still enjoyable for a family activity together.

Blizzard Beach of course adds the option to swim for a while and then play miniature golf later in the day.  The consensus is the family raft ride is better here since it is longer.

Both have areas for the younger aged guests.  I did get the feeling that Blizzard Beach might have more teenagers since the rides are more in tune with the thrills and spills that they enjoy.  I think for your first experience I might suggest Typhoon Lagoon but it seems either will be a fun day at a water park. I was also told to make sure to tell you to get donuts at either park....they supposedly are scrumptious!

This must be on my list to do in May...I am more then ready to splash for a day!
