Hello, it's me again! We are going on our first cruise on June 1, 2012. I am trying to figure out my best options for calling home at least once to let my family know we are happy and safe. Any suggestions?

    Hi April,

Congratulations on your first cruise...I know how spectacular Disney cruises are, and I'm sure that this won't be your last!

There are ways to call home, but they are going to be pricey.  You can use your cell phone while in ports, but you'll have international roaming charges.  You can call your phone provider to find out the charges in advance.  An pre-paid international phone card would probably be more economical.

I never call home, I send an email from the ship and pay for the smallest WiFi package available onboard.  This way you can keep in contact with your family several times throughout your trip and keep them updated on your adventure.

I hope this helps April.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel.  Happy sailing!
