Ahoy Judy!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! To quote
Moana: “See that line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me.” Especially when I know that
Castaway Cay is out there! I love the relaxed island vibe ashore on Disney’s private island, and we always have the best time making memories there!
Thanks for asking about one of my favorite topics in the world: FOOD! Sure, Disney Cruise Line has exceptional
dining experiences onboard and features so much food, activities, and entertainment options that are
included in the cruise. But there's just something about eating outdoors, enjoying gentle ocean breezes with toes in the sand that makes for quite a unique meal. The beauty of dining on Castaway Cay is that you don’t have to head back to the ship for lunch, so a quick return to the sun and fun can be made after a food pit stop.
Castaway Cay has three open-air dining locations that are come-as-you-are and all-you-care-to-enjoy. Cookies BBQ and Cookies Too BBQ are on the Castaway Family Beaches while Air Bar BBQ is located over on Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach. Typical lunch hours are from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and better yet, no reservations are needed!
The island fare includes hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ, ribs, fish, and even chicken (but don’t tell Heihei because he’s still scared from Maui referring to him as Drumstick and wanting to eat him)! Rounding out the menu are salads and fresh fruit along with soft drink stations, dessert bar, and soft-serve ice cream. Tip: If your party is all 18 or older, make a trek to the BBQ spot over on Serenity Bay because they serve ribeye there!
In the words of Maui, “You’re welcome” to come back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more cruise planning questions. Wishing you a blissful vacation and a magical day at Castaway Cay!
