Ahoy Tracey,
Thanks for stopping back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your Eastern Caribbean itinerary looks fabulous! Tortola, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay are a tropical island trifecta. I hope you will have plenty of memory making on your voyage on the
Disney Fantasy.
I had great cell phone service when we were in
St. Thomas one month ago and was never roaming. Once you move over to Tortola or Castaway Cay, that might change since you would no longer be in a U.S. territory. But that may vary from carrier to carrier, so what I recommend is that you contact your cell phone provider to ask about the specifics.
Disney Cruise Line features
Cellular at Sea phone service, available for use in your stateroom via your phone. However, you will be roaming internationally, so service may be unavailable depending on the ship's location. Again, you'll need to chat with your cellular carrier prior to your cruise to understand the costs associated with connecting to the Cellular at Sea network to make phone calls.
The other way you can keep in touch with the landlubbers in your life via the Wi-Fi available onboard is by purchasing a
Connect@Sea package. The advantages to Connect@Sea are that 1) you only pay for the data you use instead of per minute; and 2) multiple devices can use the same package at the same time and be shared between family members. Information on how to connect and purchase these packages is available in your stateroom upon your arrival or by visiting the Connect@Sea representative on Deck 4, Midship.
Finally, you can use the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to text with your family and friends on the ship. This is both entertaining and practical as family members tend to scatter during a cruise, and it's nice to know where everyone is.
Now that we've talked about all the ways to stay connected, I hope you'll also find some time to unplug and unwind on your upcoming cruise! Have a FANTAStic sailing!
SEA ya real soon!
