I was advised to make all dinner reservatiions in advance. Im having trouble with this b/c although I have planned, I still don't know if it is reasonble to think that I need to make dinner res. in the park that we will visit that day. Any advice?

Making your dining plans at Walt Disney World often seems daunting because of so many wonderful choices.

If you have your days planned so you know what parks you will be in then I usually suggest you consider a lunch stop within the park. This can be quick service or table service but it does save time from leaving the park if you are coming back after lunch.  If you think you will only want to stay a half day in a park, by all means check out the resort dining options as Disney has many wonderful restaurants on property.  Some families prefer to leave a park , rest back at the resort in the afternoon, and then return later for dinner.  If you want to be in a park to see the fireworks and parades having a dinner reservation with table service is a nice rest from the hectic pace of the day.

Not knowing the ages of your children or the dynamics of their interests it is hard to recommend anything in particular. However, whether you think you will be in a park or back at a resort I do suggest some sort of dining reservation be made per day so you have the option.  Restaurants fill quickly and you don't want to be disappointed.  If you find you wish to cancel your plans and relax at your resort you have that option with a few exceptions.  There are many great restaurants within the resorts and also Downtown Disney so it is fun to explore and see other places.
