Any advice on where to try to see the Magic Kingdom Parades and Illuminations? I have older kids so time and hassle is less of an issue. Thanks.

    Hi Derrel,

There are a variety of wonderful viewing locations for parades in the Magic Kingdom.  When I was there last December with my Moms Panel family, we watched the parade during the Very Merry Christmas Party from the central hub in front of the train station.  We were looking straight down Main Street U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle was the perfect backdrop for the parade.  I highly recommend this viewing location, but you'll want to arrive early if you want to snag this spot.  The circular hub directly in front of Cinderella Castle (where Walt and Mickey's "Partners" statue is located) is another popular place from which you can watch the parades.  A less crowded place would be from anywhere along the parade route in Frontierland and Liberty Square.  I particularly enjoy watching from the front of the Haunted Mansion.  Lots of folks don't even know the parades run back this way.

As for Illuminations, we often view this fireworks spectacular from the bridge between the United Kingdom and France pavilions in Epcot, although any spot along the water in World Showcase would be fabulous.  Again, I would just suggest arriving a bit early to score an unobstructed view along the railing.  I have a variety of friends who prefer to view Illuminations from higher ground in the Japan and Canada pavilions.  You may want to try one of those options.

I hope your entire family has a magical trip to Walt Disney World!
