    1) Any advice on transportation to and from Ft. Lauderdale airport? Do we have to rent a car or are there shuttles etc. to the port in Miami? 2) Our itinerary lists the time we're ashore as 7:30 a.m. How long until you're off the ship? TIA!

    Hi there, Jessica!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am so glad you stopped by with your question about your upcoming MAGICal adventure on the high seas!  You are going to have the best time onboard one of my family’s favorite cruise ships…we certainly love all four, but our first Disney Cruise Line vacation was onboard the Disney Magic, so it tends to be extra special!

We have often departed from the Port of Miami and flown into Ft. Lauderdale as it is incredibly convenient for us to fly direct to that airport from our home airport.  From our experience, the best way to get to and from the Port of Miami is to rent a one-way car from the airport and drop it off in Miami.  There are a few rental companies that have locations near the Port of Miami and will even shuttle you (and your luggage) to the Port for embarkation.  Since sometimes one-way rentals can be a little pricier, you may even want to consider a round-trip rental and just park it at the Port of Miami.  I would just recommend finding what is most cost-effective and makes the most sense for your travel party!

On disembarkation morning, assuming no delays, they will typically begin allowing Guests to disembark around 7:30AM.  If you choose to carry off your luggage on your own, then you can disembark first, but if you choose to leave your luggage out the night before for the stateroom host and hostesses to transfer to the cruise terminal for you, then you will have to wait until your specified group is called.  Either way, all Guests are asked to be off the ship by 9:00 or 9:30AM so that the Cast Members can begin turning the ship over for the next group of Guests embarking later that day!

Jessica, I hope that this information is helpful for you in planning your travel to the Port of Miami!  Please visit us again if we can help answer any other questions for you!  I wish you the best adventure EVER with Captain Mickey!

    Happy Sailing!
