What advice can you give for a first-timer to plan something extra special for a 3-year old and a 1 1/2 year-old while in WDW?

    Hi Rich:

There is no better place to plan a special vacation than at Walt Disney World. As a first timer planning a special vacation, the first thing I'd do is check out Disney's In Depth Planning pages on Planning Your First Trip and Traveling with Little Ones.  Of course just being at Disney World is enough to make any vacation special. But here are some ideas to make the visit extra special:
    • If staying on Disney property, let the Cast Member know that it's a special first visit when you check in. It's possible the front desk may be able to help arrange some Disney magic.
    • Check in at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom, or at guest relations at other parks, and pick up a "1st Visit" button. Many Cast Members will go out of their way to greet your family with a kind gesture to make the visit more memorable.
    • You also may consider contacting the Dream Makers at Disney Floral and Gifts online here or at (407) WDW-GIFT or (407) 939-4438. They can help create a personalized in-room celebration featuring favorite Disney characters. They can also deliver personalized gift baskets to your Disney resort or a Disney restaurant where you may be enjoying a celebratory meal.
    • Arrange a special character meal dining reservation. You usually cannot go wrong with a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's. In fact, make all of your advance dining reservations as soon as possible, up to 180 days in advance.
    • A simple treat, like buying a your children a balloon or bag of popcorn on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, will likely bring a huge smile to your children.

    Enjoy this special vacation.
