What are the advantages of using the Disney Dining plan? It seems we are always asked if we are on the plan in each resturant we eat in.

Hi Janis!  Many families enjoy using the dining plan as the vacation is basically paid for by the time you arrive.  You don't have to budget for the meals every time you sit down and your only decision will be what to order.

My own family chooses not to use the plans as we don't like to have to watch how many credits we are using up at each location. Some restaurants require more then one dining credit per person and families need to watch carefully with this or they will be left with days on their vacation and no dining credits left to use for meals.  We like to eat where and when we want and order what we like and thus the dining plans are not as enticing for us.

We have also seen many families end their vacation with tons of snack credits and buying a dozen rice krispie bars or ice cream or popcorn to fulfill what they had on the plan.  Again it works for many to not worry about paying at each meal but it is too much to think about for my family when on vacation!  It has been calculated that it is a good savings for a family so if you are budget watching I would suggest you look into the different dining plans available.
