Hi Mark!
Oh boy, a land-and-sea vacation sounds like pure summertime perfection! Thanks for bringing your thoughtful question our way.
There is no specific benefit to booking a
Walt Disney World Resort vacation and a
Disney Cruise Line vacation as one
land-and-sea package other than the convenience of a friendly Disney team member making your reservations and sending your confirmations together in one transaction. Please see the details here and
call Disney if you’d like support with this service. I confirmed that you will still have to view and manage each portion of the vacation in its own tool –
My Disney Experience (website or
app) for the Walt Disney World Resort portion and the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App (or website) for the cruise details. If you are comfortable navigating both websites and making your own arrangements with connecting dates, you may certainly do so and will find the cost to be the same as booking a package.
You can have a seamless transition between these aspects of your vacation with
Disney’s Ground Transportation. You must reserve this service for a per-person fee added to your cruise, but you can arrange to have Disney pick up your family from the
Walt Disney World Resort hotels and take you to
Port Canaveral (or the reverse, if the cruise is first). Transportation to Orlando International Airport is also available from Port Canaveral. You have until closer to your sailing date to confirm this detail and secure a reservation, but please know it’s available as you think through the logistics of this special trip.
You can’t go wrong with this combination, but I advise to save the cruise portion for the second half of your vacation after the active theme park days. Relaxing onboard or a fun beach day at
Disney Castaway Cay sounds ideal after a few days of fun on
thrilling attractions together.
My planDisney pals and I answer questions every day about the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line – please stop by again as you think through your vacation details. We'd love to help you make the most of this special land and sea adventure!
Happy planning,
Amy
