Kathleen from WA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

What is the advantage of buying wrist bands? Do we need them? We have a resort booked, tickets for all 4 parks purchased and reservations for the parks. Is there any thing else we need to do ahead of arrival?

Hey there, Kathleen, and welcome back to planDisney! Thanks for dropping by with your question!

MagicBands are my favorite way to access Theme Park tickets! They are worn like a watch and are really easy to manage during your Walt Disney World Resort visit. MagicBands don’t require charging, they come in cool Disney prints, and they are easy to keep up with… must I go on listing the benefits? You can also enter the Theme Parks, access Lightning Lane Queue entrances, charge purchases to your hotel folio, link Memory Maker Photos, open your resort hotel room door, and more, all with your MagicBand!

MagicBands are available at an additional cost. However, if you are staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel as part of your upcoming visit, you can purchase MagicBands through your My Disney Experience account. As a resort guest, your My Disney Experience account will display pre-arrival exclusive MagicBands just for you! These exclusive bands range from truly unique prints to more tame solid colors and are offered at a discounted rate. This way, everyone in your party gets to pick one that feels unique to them.

And even though MagicBands are cool and a staple of Walt Disney World Resort Vacations, they are no longer a necessity! Disney's Magic Mobile Pass in the My Disney Experience app is another great option for Guests who aren't interested in MagicBands. In my opinion, MagicMobile Passes are the most convenient - and free - option for entering the Theme Parks since our phones are usually sitting in our hands. The pass allows Guests all of the Magicband privileges mentioned above using an Apple or Android device that meets the minimum requirements.

PG Pro Tip: Since you’ll be using your Mobile Device for the Genie+ Service and MagicMobile Passes, I recommend adding a Portable Battery Pack to your packing list. My battery pack has quickly become a must-have accessory!

It looks like you have all the planning bases covered for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. One thing you didn’t mention was Disney Dining Reservations! At Disney, dining is an attraction all of its own! Your dining reservation window opens 60 days before your arrival date at 5:45 a.m. EST. Since you have some time before your window opens, I recommend reviewing restaurant menus and reviews to see which ones you’d like to try on your visit. I suggest adding Yak & Yeti Restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park to your must-try list.

I hope this helps, Kathleen! If you have more questions while planning your Disney Vacation, feel free to stop back by and ask me

    Until Next Time,
