we are advance planners..... we live in canada and are planning on getting an AP as it will be the best for our buck. i know i get an exchange email, but do i have to wait to activate it at a park. i want to have everything organized before we arrive.

Hi Denise! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

You will LOVE being an Annual Passholder! Not only does it giving you admission to the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, but the discounts you get at many restaurants and merchandise locations on Walt Disney World Resort property really add to the value. Not to mention the ability to download your Disney PhotoPass pictures. My family comes home with 100s of family photos full of magical memories each time we visit!

You will have to activate your Annual Pass when you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort. You can do so at any ticket window at the theme parks or at Guest Relations in Disney Springs. This is actually a good thing, since your pass expires 1 year after you activate, not when you purchase it, giving you more time to take advantage of your Annual Passholder benefits.

When you purchase your Annual Pass, you can link it to your My Disney Experience account, even without it being activated. This will still give you the ability to make FastPass+ selections and use Passholder discounts on Disney Resort hotel reservations. You will be able to plan as if your Annual Pass is already active. When you arrive for your vacation, activating your pass is extremely quick and easy! Make sure that all adults in your party have their photo IDs and bring the voucher with you.

Enjoy planning your trip, Denise, and please visit us again with any other questions you may have!
