3 adults and a 5 year old girl are planning on coming to Disney first week in December 2019. Can we add the Christmas party to our package or do we have to add it later? Any money saving tips?

Hello, Christine, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

December is such a magical time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort, and I'm so excited to hear about your plans to attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party as a part of your holiday vacation! You will need to purchase your Christmas Party tickets independent of your Walt Disney World Resort hotel and Theme Park ticket package, but you shouldn't have any problems doing so--especially when you purchase them as soon as they're available. While the dates for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party were released earlier this week, we'll need to wait a little longer for the official dates for Mickey's yuletide plans. Last year, these were posted in mid-April, so I would recommend staying tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for updates. Looking at last year's schedule, though, Mickey hosted his Very Merry Christmas Party on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from early November until Dec. 21. Typically, the first of these events begins about a week after Mickey hosts his final Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

As for money saving tips, I would definitely recommend purchasing your Christmas Party tickets in advance, since tickets at the gate (if available) will cost a little more. Additionally, you can enjoy a zero percent promotional APR for six months on select Disney vacation packages AND save 10 percent on select merchandise and dining purchases when you use the Disney Visa Card. (Plus, Disney Visa Cardmembers have exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities with Disney Characters at Epcot and Star Wars Characters at Disney's Hollywood Studios!)

I hope you and your family enjoy your holiday visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
