Can adults wear costumes on a cruise for Star Wars and pirate night?

    Ahoy Cailyn!

I am so excited to hear you have an adventure at sea with Captain Mickey on the horizon. Even better, it's a Star Wars Day at Sea sailing. My family had an absolute blast on that cruise a few years ago, so I can say from experience that we thought it was simply out of this galaxy!

I never want to grow up if it means I can’t wear costumes! The beauty is that costumes are always welcome on a Disney cruise, especially for Pirate Night and specialty sailings including Star Wars Day at Sea and Marvel Day at Sea. And yes, that means grown-ups, too! There are certain items that are not allowed by Captain Mickey, and the list can be found here. You'll notice that store-bought lightsabers and plastic toy pirate swords are permitted as toy exceptions.

Shiver me timbers, not only do you have a special day dedicated to all things Star Wars, but you also have a Pirate Night to anticipate. Pirate Night is one of my favorite evenings because everyone is so festive and swashbuckling. It’s a real buccaneer blast! Guests are always decked out in costumes worthy of Captain Jack’s approval.

The same goes for Star Wars Day at Sea voyages. What energizes these itineraries so much is when everyone gets in the spirit by dressing up. Many Guests go all out, so much so that they could actually BE one of the characters and pose for photos! Make the jump to hyperdrive by packing costumes and accessories that kick your Star Wars Day at Sea and Pirate Night experiences up a notch.

Like a Jedi needs a lightsaber, you will need the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to stay on top of all the activities and entertainment throughout your cruise. You can expect appearances from favorite characters like Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3PO. Look out for Stormtroopers wandering around the pool deck. Kids can learn to channel their inner Jedi in the “Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple” experience. If you like, watch all the Star Wars movies in the Buena Vista Theatre. And don't miss the “Summon the Force” deck party and fireworks show!

Should you have any other questions, feel free to use the Force and summon us at planDisney. As Obi-Wan would say, “We will be with you, ALWAYS!”
