Hey there, Maridi!
Welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited that you're making the trip to the Disneyland Resort, I think it's perfect for younger kids like yours.
My family is also two adults and two kids, although mine are just a few years older than yours, and we are big fans of using
Disney Genie+ during our visits to the parks. The
Disneyland Mobile App is your best friend when it comes to accessing your park tickets, purchasing Disney Genie+ (if it wasn't included when you purchased your park tickets), selecting Lightning Lanes, and entering the Lightning Lane queue when your time has arrived. You'll use the app to scan a barcode for each ticket at Lightning Lane entrances. That means you and I would scan four barcodes by swiping on the app to view each one. It doesn't take too long.
If you'd rather not get your phone out to enter a Lightning Lane queue then
MagicBand+ is a great option! Each MagicBand+ is assigned to an individual theme park ticket, which allows the wearer to tap their band to enter the parks or join a Lightning Lane queue when they have a valid reservation. It's totally up to you if you want to get MagicBand+ for everyone in your group or just a couple of people! Anyone without a band would simply use a mobile device to scan a barcode to enter the parks or a Lighting Lane queue instead. There isn't an option on the mobile app or with the bands to have one scan work for an entire party.
My kids absolutely love using MagicBand+ at the parks. Besides tapping their bands for official tasks like entering the park, they love the surprise interactions with shows and attractions. There's even a game to play with the bands called
Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters that my kids would play for hours if we let them! I wear a band in the parks most of the time, but not always. It just depends on my mood that day. My husband prefers to use his phone and never wears a band during our visits. We all get around just fine! When we were first thinking about starting to use the bands we bought one and let my oldest kiddo give it a "test drive" for the day. He was really happy with it and wore it all day without complaining about it or losing it, so we decided to let his little sister pick one out, too. They've been a hit! You can always purchase a band in the parks, or you can order them on the
shopDisney website...where sometimes they go on sale!
Maridi, you don't need a MagicBand+ to enjoy the parks with your family, but they can be a lot of fun! Your family is lucky to have you as the leader of the club to help them have a magical visit. I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have, so just
toss some pixie dust over my way if I can help!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
