Carla from BC Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hello! We are 4 adults coming to Disneyland in November. One of us has a disability and will be registering for DAS. Does she still need Genie+ or will her DAS status give her access to the lightening lanes, meaning only 3 of us will need Genie+?

Hiya, Carla, and welcome to planDisney!

Your magical getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth will be here before you know it, and I couldn’t be more excited for you. It sounds like one member of your group may be applying for Disability Access Service, or DAS. This helpful service was designed to accommodate Guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue due to a disability. Guests are issued a return time to come back to an attraction and enter through the Lightning Lane entrance. Disney Genie+, on the other hand, is a paid service that allows Guests to use Lightning Lane entrances at a variety of attractions throughout the theme parks. It also includes fun audio tales and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads. So, if the Guest in your group qualifies for DAS, they will be able to add the other three adults in your group as part of their DAS party once your tickets are all linked together on the Disneyland app. This way, you can all utilize DAS as a group, and you don't necessarily have to purchase Genie+ service.

However, you can also use DAS and Disney Genie+ simultaneously if you’d like to make the most of your park days! Both of these services can be accessed from the convenience of your mobile device, using the Disneyland app. A friend of mine recently used both of these services in tandem during her day at the Disneyland Park, and she was very impressed with the efficiency of her day.

Disney Genie+ can be purchased and added to your tickets on a daily basis on the Disneyland app as soon as you enter either of the theme parks. You’ll be able to choose from about 20 attractions between the two theme parks if you have Park Hopper tickets. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to “hop” to the other park until after 1:00 PM. There are currently two attractions not included in Genie+, including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (in Disneyland Park) and Radiator Springs Racers (in Disney California Adventure Park). However, you can access these attractions with DAS.

Keep in mind that the Guest in your group can use the new DAS Advance program to pre-register online with a live video chat as early as 30 days in advance of your visit, and no less than two days before. So, your November visit is within this window if your friend would like to register ahead of time. Otherwise, they can also register at the Disneyland Resort upon arrival at City Hall (in Disneyland Park), Chamber of Commerce (in Disney California Adventure Park), or any Guest Information location.

I hope this information helps your group experience the most magical visit possible, Carla! Please stop by with any additional questions… we love making your Disney dreams come true!

    See ya’ real soon,
