Hi Erica,
Thanks for your excellent question. I'm happy to help you sort out the options for a family group of your size.
You are correct that most standard rooms, especially at the value resorts, have a capacity of four adults.
Port Orleans Riverside has rooms with two queen beds and a pull down child-sized bed. You could make that work only if one of the children is 2 or younger and sleeping in a Pack 'n Play. And it would still be a tight squeeze with only one bathroom.
Your other most economical options on Walt Disney World property:
You could book two connecting rooms at a value resort such as All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies or Pop Century. That would give you two bathrooms, four double beds and a little elbow room.
For about the same price, however, you could book a family suite at
All-Star Music, which would give you four beds, two bathrooms and a kitchenette.
Or, the option I would seriously consider, would be a
cabin at Fort Wilderness. Again, it is a little more than two standard rooms, but you have sleeping space for six, a full kitchen, a living room, an outdoor grill and a patio with a picnic table. The cabins, too, have one bathroom, but the other amenities, plus the beautiful setting, would make it a serious consideration for me if I were in your situation. The full kitchen would give you the opportunity to save on meals, which might help with the cost.
I hope that helps a bit with your decision. Please let us know if the Disney Parks Moms Panel can answer other questions or offer more advice as you plan your vacation.
Enjoy!
