Hello, Molly! Thank you for reaching out to planDisney with your question.
As a teacher, I know the unpredictable can be stressful for those with autism. I’m happy to help remove some uncertainty before your Disney Cruise Line vacation.
While children are invited to wear costumes at any time while sailing onboard Disney Cruise Line,
costumes for adults are limited to those sailing on themed voyages, such as Halloween on the High Seas, Marvel Day at Sea, or when dressing up for
Pirate Night.
A fantastic alternative is to “Disney bound” as a princess instead. This is the term for wearing everyday clothes to portray characters but not an exact copy of a costume. This prevents guests from being confused with the actual Disney Characters on the ship.
Molly, from the moment you enter the atrium, you’ll notice the hard-working crew ready to take care of your every need. There are some helpful
special services available for guests with autism. The crew is happy to assist and offer suggestions with wait times during the mandatory guest assembly drill, character lines, and more. If you have any other questions or concerns before setting sail, please get in touch with Disney Special Services at (407) 566-3602 at least 60 days before sailing to discuss additional options.
Thank you again for visiting us at planDisney, where we treat all our guests like royalty. I’m confident your vacation will end happily ever after.
SEAS the adventure!
