If I have another adult with me and they pair their magic band separate from mine can we each pick separate Lightening Lane choices?

    Hi Dixie!

Welcome to planDisney!  Traveling with friends and family is really what makes Walt Disney World Resort the Most Magical Place on Earth!  And planning your vacation is super easy thanks to My Disney Experience - let's take a look!

Dixie, I'm happy to hear that both adults in your travel party plan to use MagicBands.  I love the convenience of using the cute and stylish bands to unlock my room door, charge purchases to my room, redeem meals and snacks on the dining plans, and tap into the parks and Lightning Lane entrances.  Each MagicBand needs to be properly paired and linked to the person who will be using it as park tickets and room reservations are connected to the band.

While you can use your MagicBand to tap into Lightning Lane entrances, those selections are actually managed separately from the band itself.  When planning your trip together, you'll want to make sure that you have everyone in your travel party linked on your Family and Friends List.  Then, as long as everyone has their valid theme park admission also linked to their own accounts, you should be able to purchase Disney Genie+ and decide which Lightning Lane attractions you want to enjoy together, and which ones you may want to experience alone.  Here's how it works:

    • Disney Genie+ is available to purchase each night of your vacation after midnight.  You can choose to purchase just for you, or you can purchase for anyone else that is linked to you on your Family and Friends List.  I'm the planner in our family, so I'm always up early and have purchased Genie+ for myself, my husband, and my kids by 6:30 AM.  This purchase can be completed in the My Disney Experience Mobile App.
    • When purchasing Genie+, you can choose to purchase for just one park or select the multi-park option if you have Park Hopper tickets and will be visiting more than one theme park each day.
    • Your first Lightning Lane selection is available at 7:00 AM.  From the app, you can select which attraction you want to enjoy and then select who will be experiencing it from your Family and Friends List.  You are welcome to choose some or all of your party when booking your experience.
Dixie, you'll find the process very similar if you're interested in purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes or joining Virtual Queues.  All of these options are great ways to save time waiting in line and maximize your time in the park.  Since several of these selection windows first open at 7:00 AM, I recommend prioritizing your Virtual Queue selection first, then any Individual Lightning Lanes, and lastly Lightning Lanes as the Virtual Queues tend to fill very quickly!

I hope this information helps you prepare for a wonderful visit to Walt Disney World Resort!  Dixie, you've got a friend in me here at planDisney and I hope you stop by again if you have any other questions in the future!

    See ya real soon!
