Ahoy there, Pat!
Welcome aboard
planDisney, where we're always ready to steer you in the right direction. Thanks for docking here as you prepare to set sail on your exciting voyage to the
Most Magical Place on Earth. Let's chart a course for adventure!
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen (or, as my family calls it, just "Skipper Canteen") is my favorite restaurant in
Magic Kingdom Park, and I always recommend it to fellow explorers seeking more exotic fare than they'd typically find in a theme park. While nearly the entire menu appeals to me, I often travel with a husband and children who prefer more familiar dishes. At Skipper Canteen and other table service eateries, the children's menu is only meant for Guests under 10. You will encounter Cast Members willing to make exceptions, so my advice is to ask nicely and see what can be done to accommodate your party.
If an item on the regular
menu of interest contains one or two undesirable ingredients or accompaniments, consider asking if the dish could be made without them. And while the menu at Skipper Canteen might seem intimidating at first glance, some items like the "Tastes like Chicken" Because it is! and Dr. Falls Signature Grilled Steak are pretty standard. (You can ask to have the sauces served on the side.) The Mess Hall Fried Rice is a hidden gem on the appetizer menu - it's hearty enough to be a meal on its own!
Insider tip: ask your server if the not-so-secret menu item, Brazilian cheese bread, is available. It's no longer on the official menu, but you can sometimes reel it in!
I hope this puts your mind at ease so it's smooth sailing for your crew, Pat. Best wishes for an unforgettable journey next week, and please drop us a line if there's anything else we can do to make future trips even more enjoyable.
See ya real soon,
Betsy
