Hi Margaret, welcome to planDisney!
You are planning my kind of vacation! I can’t leave
Disney Springs without a stop by Gideon’s Bakehouse. While they are known for their half-pound cookies, I’ll admit I dream about their red velvet cake.
On one of my previous visits to
Gideon’s Bakehouse we were surprised that we arrived during Hot Cookie Hour! I usually buy my Gideon’s cookies and savor them in chunks over time- whether that is minutes, hours, or days, I’ll never tell! However, I could not say no to a warm, chocolatey cookie topped with a scoop of homemade ice cream. And oh boy, it was everything you’d want it to be!
So, here’s the scoop on Hot Cookie Hour at Gideon’s Bakehouse. According to an employee of Gideon’s Bakehouse, you should head to Gideon’s first thing when you arrive to Disney Springs. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you see the gargoyle looming above the entrance. Don’t be discouraged if you see a line already forming outside of the Bakehouse! There will be employees stationed near the doors who will be managing the current queue for Gideon’s Bakehouse, and they will let you know if there is currently a Virtual Queue to join. You can only join the Virtual Queue by visiting Gideon's Bakehouse in person, but if you join the Virtual Queue, that will allow you to spend your time around Disney Springs rather than standing in line. Make sure to let these employees know that you’d like to return during Hot Cookie Hour and they will be able to advise you best on how to return during that time frame. Typically, weekends are busiest, but weekdays can also be busy too depending on the time of year you are visiting. When you speak to the employees, don't forget to ask for a menu card. Not only will it list the
current menu items, including the monthly limited-edition cookie, but the flip side of the card will have some spooky, yet sweet, artwork that I know many people collect.
If you don’t make it to Hot Cookie Hour at Gideon’s Bakehouse, don’t feel
crumby! There are so many great items on their menu, you can’t go wrong. Make sure you check out their cold brew options as well, because of course you’ll need a drink to go with your cookie! I recommend following Gideon’s Bakehouse on social media to watch for announcements regarding their limited-edition cookie flavors. When you get the chance to enter Gideon’s Bakehouse, take a moment to look around the interior. Let’s just say the gargoyle out front may not be the spookiest thing you find at Gideon’s.
I hope this helps you find that
sweet spot of visiting Gideon’s Bakehouse during Hot Cookie Hour, Margaret! If you have any future planning questions
