Julie from MN Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My adult daughter has rheumatoid arthritis which makes it painful to stand for long periods. Can she bring a folding stool which folds similar to an umbrella to use while standing in long lines. She doesn't like renting the scooters due to the crowds.

    chEARs Julie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As the resident doctor on the Panel, I just had to grab your question! Rest assured, Disney wants to provide the most magical of experiences for all of its Guests, including those who need mobility assistance!

Your daughter is more than welcome to bring her folding stool to the Park as it is a mobility aid. I know you said she doesn’t like to use ECVs in crowds, but you might want to consider a wheelchair rental as Disney days can be quite long. Wheelchairs can be rented for the day, or you can get one from one of Disney’s Featured Providers. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the service at Buena Vista Scooter Rentals.

To decrease her transit from the parking lots, take advantage of the Disability Parking Lots at each of the four Theme Parks. You will need a valid disability parking permit, and standard rates apply. If you don’t have a disability parking permit, you can drop her off at designated drop-off locations, or ask to park at the end of the rows closest to the Park entrance.

I would highly suggest you take advantage of FastPass+! This fantastic service allows you to skip the standby line at the attractions, and therefore give her a bit of rest. Also, she can talk to Cast Members at the attraction about transferring to a wheelchair during the queue. These attractions comfortably accommodate transfers.

Julie, if you or your daughter have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to come back. I hope this trip is just what the doctor ordered!
