Hi, Dennis! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
In my opinion, a fireworks dessert party is a perfectly pixie-dusted way to end your day at the Walt Disney World Resort. I have attended the
Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing multiple times, and it is nothing short of magical! The dessert buffet is delectable, but it is the breathtaking view of the
Happily Ever After Fireworks that is the real star of the show. I think the reserved viewing area in the Plaza Garden is the best place to take in this nighttime spectacular. From this spot, you have a wonderful vantage point for both the fireworks and the projections on
Cinderella Castle which play such an important role in this show. I also like that the reserved viewing section is never overly crowded, so it's the perfect spot to comfortably view the fireworks. The
Magic Kingdom After Fireworks Dessert Party that you have booked gives you access to the same reserved viewing section as the parties that I have attended. The only difference is that you will enjoy your tasty treats after the show rather than before.
I took a look at the cancellation policy for the Magic Kingdom After Fireworks Dessert Party. If you decide to cancel your reservation, you may do so with a full refund, as long as you cancel more than five days in advance. However, I would encourage you to keep that reservation. As I mentioned before, your view from the reserved section will be amazing, and since dessert party guests are guaranteed a spot in the reserved section, you don't have to arrive quite so early. This is always a plus for my own family. My son has autism and has a very short attention span. Waiting for long periods can be a challenge for him. When we attend a fireworks dessert party, we always appreciate that we can avoid staking out a good viewing spot hours in advance.
If you choose to cancel your dessert party reservation, spots to actually sit down and watch the show may be hard to find. You will likely have to stand. Although there are no chairs or benches in the Plaza Garden reserved viewing area, there is plenty of room to sit on the grass while you wait for the show. If you are hoping for seated viewing, you could even look into attending the
Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. This version of the dessert party provides you with a table at the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant from which to view the fireworks rather than a spot in the garden area. Although I prefer the view from the Plaza Garden, the Tomorrowland Terrace views are great as well. If you do decide to forgo the dessert party, I would recommend finding a spot somewhere in the "hub" area in front of Cinderella Castle for the best view of the projections.
