Hey Howdy Hey, Cynthia, and welcome back to planDisney!
I'm so glad you stopped by to discuss one of my preferred topics of discussion: Disney dining! Personally, my favorite thing about Walt Disney World Resort dining is that there's something for everyone. Whether you're an adventurous eater who delights in trying the exotic dishes of EPCOT's World Showcase (like my husband) or a self-proclaimed chicken tender connoisseur (like myself), there's no fear of leaving The Most Magical Place on Earth with a 'rumbly in your tumbly'.
Because the smaller portions of Kids' Menus are more conducive to my preferred vacation style (lots of Mickey-shaped snacks), I regularly order items from kids' menus at
Quick Service dining locations without a problem, but, in my experience, each
Table Service restaurant has its own policy regarding adults ordering from the kids' menu. At some restaurants, I have been permitted to do so and at others, I was not. Ultimately, the decision is up to individual Cast Member discretion, so I suggest inquiring about the policy when you check in at the restaurant or stopping by earlier in the day so that you can plan ahead. In some instances, even if adults are not permitted to order from the kids' menu, Cast Members have offered to prepare an adult-sized portion of a kids' menu item, so that might be a helpful alternative for you. It's important to keep in mind that if you plan to utilize a
dining plan during your vacation anyone over 9 years of age will be charged the adult rate and deducted a full meal credit even if they order an item from a kids' menu.
While we're on the topic of dining at
Disney's Hollywood Studios, I want to share one of my favorite out-of-the-box options: waffle bowls at
Fairfax Fare. Although your more selective Mousketeer might not enjoy the unconventional mix of flavors, I encourage other members of your party to consider stopping by. Personally, I never skip the buffalo chicken bowl, but I've also heard rave reviews of the barbecued beef brisket bowl.
On a personal note, I recently celebrated my birthday at
50's Prime Time Café and enjoyed Aunt Betty's chicken strips with Grandma's macaroni and cheese and green beans that instantly transported me back to my Grandmother's kitchen country kitchen. Her name was actually Betty, so how magical is that?!?
I hope this was helpful, Cynthia, and that your upcoming magical vacation leaves your hearts and bellies full. If you have any additional questions as you plan (even if it's just for my personal ranking of Walt Disney World chicken tenders), don't hesitate to stop back by.
I'm always happy to help!Thinking Happy Thoughts,
