We have an ADR at Trails End for dinner one night during our stay in Feb. But, now I'm rethinking that decision. We are staying at the Yacht Club (have a 2 year old who likes to eat and want buffets). Is it awful to try to get between those two places?

    Hi Melissa,

My kids have a good time at buffets too.  I find it easy to satisfy both picky and good eaters with a big variety of things to chose from.  I think a trip over to Fort Wilderness Campground and the buffet at Trails End is worth it IF you plan to avail yourself of some of the other things to do at the Fort.  For example, each evening (weather permitting) Chip & Dale host a campfire sing along, followed by an outdoor viewing of a Disney movie.  You can also go for a horse-drawn carriage ride or watch the electric water pageant.  There is also a great playground.  If you were simply going over to the Fort to eat, I'd probably recommend a buffet closer to your resort (like the Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club, or at Gulliver's Grille at the Swan & Dolphin, although that is not on the Dining Plan.)  You can also walk to Hollywood & Vine at MGM or Biergarten in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot.

If you decide to go to Trails End, the best way to get there is to catch a bus from your resort to the Magic Kingdom. Once you are on the bus, the ride should be approximately 15-20 minutes.  When you arrive, transfer to the boat dock and catch a bus to the Fort.  That ride should be between 10-15 minutes.  I would allow yourself an hour or more to ensure you arrive on time.  Because of the travel time, I'd probably either make an evening/afternoon out of a visit to the Fort, or if you simply want a great buffet, select one from the many available at Disney.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time!
