Hello, Gena!
When my Mouseketeer was little, a meal at the
Rainforest Cafe was filled with mixed emotions. He wanted to enjoy the theming but became nervous and anxious when he heard all the noises and saw that some animals moved. We found that letting the hostess know we preferred a "quiet table" away from the moving animals and in an area that was well lit, really helped our family enjoy the unique dining experience. Although my son is a few years older now, he still likes to think he has "control" over the restaurant’s thunderstorms. He always asks our server how long before the next thunderstorm so we can set an alarm on my phone to signal a countdown to the next roll of thunder. It helps him focus, and he tolerates the thunderstorms much better!
Chef Mickey's is one of my favorite places to enjoy a meal with Mickey Mouse and Pals. You can take the Resort Monorail from The Magic Kingdom to Disney's Contemporary Resort where Chef Mickey's is located. The ride in the sky only takes a few minutes. However, you never know when Stitch may cause havoc and delay a monorail's arrival, so plan to be at the monorail station about 40 minutes before your dining reservation. If, for some reason the monorail is not running, then it is only a short walk to the Contemporary Resort. I am looking forward to Chef Mickey's brunch with my family on our next visit!
I hope this helps, and you have a magical time with your family! Please let us know if we can answer other questions you might have as you continue to plan your visit!
