Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Melissa!
Hurray for visiting Walt Disney World Resort with grandparents! Your Mouseketeers are going to make so many special memories on your upcoming
summer vacation, and I’m very excited for your whole family.
In my experience, showing up to a
Disney dining reservation without a few members of your party should not be a problem. Just explain to the Cast Member at the host station that you’re missing a couple of members of the party, and they’ll ask how many you
do have, and how many are children. It’s only when you entirely miss a dining reservation without canceling it that you may be charged; if that should happen, I recommend calling (407) WDW-DINE as soon as you know you won’t be able to make a dining reservation so that they can assist in canceling or attempting to reschedule for a better time.
You’re smart to think about keeping cool and rested, Melissa. The lovely thing about
Epcot is that there are lots of great places to sit, relax, and enjoy some air conditioning.
The American Adventure,
Living with the Land, and
Journey Into Imagination With Figment are fantastic,
cool attractions that usually have manageable wait times, and they are all kid- and grandparent-friendly. The queue for
The Seas With Nemo & Friends is some of the iciest air conditioning around, as is the
Epcot Character Spot (bonus points: you can get some adorable family photos with Mickey and pals). There are also many quaint spots to sit down, enjoy a cold beverage (you can always request free ice water from any Counter Service location) and snack, and enjoy the ambience all around the World Showcase. If the grandparents are more of the rock and roll type, they might love the
Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Live show – it’s a super fun show filled with live renditions of the songs from the movies. Epcot is a great place to slow down, explore, eat, and drink...all while making magical memories.
I hope you and your family enjoy your
Grand Adventure this summer!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
