Kelly from FL Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Is there any additional documentation required for a minor child traveling with just one parent? We will be traveling on a round trip out of Miami for Thanksgiving week.

Greetings, Kelly – welcome to planDisney!

Kelly, your Disney Cruise Line – Very Merrytime Cruise is fast-approaching, how exciting! These themed sailings are the merriest at sea featuring many holiday activities, Disney Characters in their jolly holiday finest, grand celebrations with fireworks on deck, Santa Claus sightings, tree lightings, and even winter wonderland holiday cheer at Disney Castaway Cay. You’re in for a real treat during your Thanksgiving week sailing!

For your consideration, an Authorization for Minor to Travel without a Parent or Legal Guardian Form or Legal Guardian Form must be filled out in advance of the sailing, and states, “authorizes an adult (age 18 or older) other than the parent or legal guardian to retain care, custody and control of a child during the span of a Disney cruise vacation.”

As well, (and I understand how this may be confusing because of the title similarity), the Authorization for Minor to Travel without a Parent or Legal Guardian must be filled out by a parent or legal guardian, listing the names of each child that will be traveling, and the form must be presented by the authorized adult (age 18 or older) during check-in at the port on embarkation day. Please fill in the areas on the form carefully and note that you will need the signature and seal of a Notary Public for verification (subject to change). The first form above, seems simpler in format, while the second form is more detailed and requires the seal and signature of a Notary Public.

Kelly, kindly refer to this comprehensive list of required Disney Cruise Line documentation encompassing all aspects in preparation for your upcoming sailing. I also find the Disney Cruise Line – Preparing for Your Cruise resource helpful as it provides an accurate list of required and recommended items.

For further questions or clarification, kindly contact Disney Cruise Line at your earliest convenience from Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

    Tips:
Download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to manage your plans before and during your sailing, and it will be your handy little guide for activities onboard, communicating with fellow travel mates and much more!

Kelly, during your sailing, consider booking a future Disney cruise by visiting the Onboard Sales Desk located on Deck 4, Midship, or via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App – the Disney Parks Blog recently shared all the excitement and itineraries for next year!

I hope this information is helpful to you, Kelly, and I wish you the merriest and jolliest sailing with Disney Cruise Line!

Best Disney Wishes and Happy Thanksgiving!
    Jacqueline
