Hi! When adding DCL transportation to our reservation, is there anything else I have to do to let them know we will be staying at a Disney World Resort the night before and after the cruise? I don't see any option on the website/app for this.

Ahoy, Kristina! Thanks for bringing your travel question over to planDisney. It sounds like you are planning a dream vacation that combines time at the Walt Disney World Resort with a sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line.

One of my favorite things about sailing with Disney Cruise Line is how simple they make the other travel logistics for your trip. Ground transportation is available from your Disney World hotel to Port Canaveral and back, but you usually need to call Disney Cruise Line directly in order to add these particular types of transfers to your reservation. When you speak with a representative, they will get the details on where you are staying both before and after the cruise to add the hotel ground transfers to your reservation.

Disney makes the transition between Disney World and Port Canaveral seamless, so you can start that vacation feeling as soon as possible without having to endure any added travel stress. You will receive instructions about what to do with your luggage, but in my experience, you put the Disney Cruise Line luggage tags on your suitcases, leave them in your hotel room for bell services to pick up, and then you won’t see them again until they are delivered to your stateroom onboard the ship later that night. Talk about some Disney magic! Just remember to keep any essential items like travel documents, medication, and pool gear (if you plan to make a splash when you first step aboard) inside the carry-on bags that will stay with you. Closer to sailing, you will also receive instructions about where and when to meet to board the bus. The ride from Disney World to Port Canaveral is approximately one hour, but the TV screens on the buses typically display movies or other types of entertainment.

After your cruise, you will gather your luggage from the port and then be directed to the buses going to Disney World, where you will be assigned a bus going to your specific resort area. I assure you that the post-cruise blues are much less severe when you are going directly to Disney World instead of the airport!

I hope you have the best vacation by land and sea. If you need any other advice about Disney World or Disney Cruise Line, we are always ready to answer your questions at planDisney. Happy sailing!
