If we want to add a resort room before our cruise & a room & tickets package after, do we need to link everything together? Would this be considered three separate reservations? Just trying to figure a few things out before our first ever cruise.

    Welcome back to planDisney, Lindsay,

I'm excited for you to experience your first Disney cruise. Just be warned! You are very likely to be hooked on a new way of vacationing. My family didn't really think we'd be the type of people to go on cruises. But after trying out a cruise on the Disney Wonder, our main regret is not having started cruising even earlier!

It sounds like you are planning an extra-magical first cruise experience. Your pre- and post-cruise hotel stays, especially at The Most Magical Place on Earth, will extend the Disney cruise vacation magic marvelously. Booking stays at the Walt Disney World Resort, with or without theme park tickets, can be done directly with Disney World or a travel professional. Each of those stays will be its own reservation. If you book a stay at one of Disney Cruise Line's partner hotels near Port Canaveral outside of Disney World, even if you book your stay through the Disney Cruise Line, you will end up with another reservation with them as well.

So, yes, you can expect to have three separate reservations: one for your Disney Cruise and one each for your pre- and post-cruise hotel stays. And what is the magical glue that can bind them all together? That would be Disney Cruise Line ground transfers. When you book your ground transfer, you will indicate which Disney Resort Collection hotel or partner hotel you will be staying at. That will set up your transportation reservations at the intended travel endpoints. Details about your embarkation-day transportation, including when and where to meet to check in for your transfer, will be sent to you in an email a few days in advance. Details about post-cruise transportation are typically available in the Disney Cruise Navigator app a day or so before final disembarkation. After you collect your checked luggage from the cruise ship terminal at Port Canaveral, Cast Members and signs will direct you toward the correct motorcoach assigned to take you to your next destination.

Thanks for visiting us at planDisney, Lindsay. We hope to hear from you again soon.
