Ahoy there, Dawna! Welcome aboard planDisney!
Of all the things that are part of a Disney Cruise Line vacation, gratuities for the crew are always a fantastic way to recognize the hard work and incredible service that truly makes the difference on each sailing. From the little surprises around your stateroom which magically materialize each night, to the incredible dining teams who learn your preferences practically overnight, and everyone in between, the crew members truly are the difference - at least that's how my family feels about it!
I have great news, Dawna: you definitely can arrange to have the gratuities prepaid before your cruise. Disney Cruise Line asks that you request this at least three days prior to your sail date (or make arrangements while onboard at Guest Services). You can do this by
contacting the shoreside crew members either by phone or by
using the form available on the website. Since payment is involved, I'd suggest giving the crew a call when you get a chance, but keep a weather eye out - call volumes have been rising like the tide thanks to some new special offers for Disney+ subscribers as well as some recent announcements about the
Disney Treasure, the sixth ship in the fleet, as well as South Pacific and Hawai'i Itineraries!
Oh, and one more planDrew-approved tip:
suggested gratuities are outlined on the website, which can help you work them into your budget, but be sure to plan for some recognition of truly magical moments and for others that can easily be forgotten. From amazing service on Port Adventures, up on the pool decks, and who can forget the included 24-hour room service, I always budget for these additional gratuities to be sure no crew member goes unrecognized for their tireless service!
I hope that helps you check this item off your packing list, Dawna! Thank you so much for your question, and if you run into any others as you continue planning, please let me know in a message in a bottle here on planDisney!
Fair winds and following seas,
Andrew
