Welcome aboard planDisney! Getting your onboard account sorted out before you set sail is a great idea. It makes it much easier to enjoy those specialty coffees, Port Adventures, souvenirs, and maybe even hear someone yell, "BINGO!" without wondering which credit card will be doing the heavy lifting.
The answer to your question really depends on the selections you made during
Online Check-In. In the Onboard Account section, you may have noticed two sets of checkboxes next to each Guest in your stateroom. The first set lets you agree to be financially responsible for purchases made by the selected Guest(s). The second set authorizes those Guests to make purchases without you needing to be present. So, if you've selected those boxes for another Guest, any onboard purchases they make,
including Port Adventures, will be charged to the payment method linked to your onboard account.
If everyone in your crew plans to pay for their own purchases, you'll want to make sure those responsibility boxes are not selected. Instead, each Guest should add their own payment method during Online Check-In so charges are billed to the appropriate payment method.
Since you still have a few weeks before embarkation day, you can log into your reservation on the Disney Cruise Line website and update your Online Check-In if you need to make any changes. Once you're onboard, Guest Services can also help adjust your onboard account if your plans change.
One other helpful thing to know is that your credit card isn't always charged just once at the end of the cruise. Depending on the length of your sailing,
Disney places spending thresholds on onboard accounts. For example, on sailings lasting two to five nights, the threshold is currently $300. As your onboard balance reaches that amount, your payment method may be charged during the cruise rather than waiting until the final morning.
