Can I add MaxPass to a ticket that I already have before entering the park? We go in March, but I’d like to book the MaxPasses now if possible. Thanks for your help!

    Hi there, Chris!

Adding on the Disney MaxPass service to your theme park ticket is a great way to maximize the magic of your Disneyland Resort vacation. MaxPass can be purchased in one of two ways. It can be purchased all at once at the same time you purchase your theme park ticket. Or you can purchase MaxPass one day at a time. When purchasing one-day MaxPass benefits, your theme park ticket must first be activated and used to enter into either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park on the day you intend to use MaxPass.

Tony's Tip: If you already have your theme park ticket, feel free to scan it into the Disneyland app as soon as you would like. You will definitely want to do so before you arrive at the Disneyland Resort. Don't worry about starting the expiration timer on your ticket; your ticket will not be activated until you actually use it to enter a theme park. To be prepared to conveniently add Disney MaxPass to your ticket after you enter a theme park, it's also a good idea to have a form of payment added to your Disneyland Resort account in the app before you arrive.

At the Disneyland Resort, selecting Disney FASTPASS attraction and entertainment return times can only be done after you arrive at the park each day of your visit, even if you have Disney MaxPass added to your ticket. There are still some significant advantages to adding MaxPass to your ticket:
    • Save time and steps during your visit to the parks by making Disney FASTPASS selections from the convenience of your mobile device instead of visiting individual FASTPASS distribution points for each attraction that features FASTPASS service.
    • Use the Disneyland app to make FASTPASS selections for available entertainment options. Getting FASTPASS return times for entertainment does not interfere with your ability to make FASTPASS selections for attractions.
    • After you make a FASTPASS selection for an attraction, you must either use that FASTPASS or wait a specified minimum time before becoming eligible to make another FASTPASS selection. With the regular FASTPASS service, the minimum wait time between selections may be as much as 120 minutes. With MaxPass, that time is never more than 90 minutes. This is a great way to collect multiple FASTPASS return times while you are enjoying a relaxing break at your hotel during the day.
    • With complimentary FASTPASS, you may begin visiting FASTPASS distribution points as soon as the park officially opens, sometimes referred to as waiting until after "rope drop." With MaxPass, there is no need to wait until after rope drop to begin making FASTPASS selections. Once your ticket is scanned in at the park entrance turnstiles, adding MaxPass to your ticket means you are immediately eligible to make your first FASTPASS selection, even if the park hasn’t officially opened yet!
    • With MaxPass added to Park Hopper tickets, you may even make FASTPASS selections for either Disneyland Resort theme park no matter where you are.
    • To add even more value to your Disneyland Resort vacation, MaxPass includes unlimited downloads of your Disney PhotoPass photos taken each day you add MaxPass to your tickets.

I hope you have a magical visit to The Happiest Place on Earth, Chris!
