Hi there, Deborah!
Welcome to planDisney. It is almost time for your visit to Disneyland Resort! Mid-January is a great time of year to enjoy the theme parks, as the excitement of the
Holidays at Disneyland has ended and spring break Guests have not arrived yet. Just make sure to bring a rain jacket or poncho, as it often rains in January. I prefer ponchos because I can sit on them when riding outdoor attractions, and they can protect my backpack from getting wet.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be bought either when buying a theme park ticket or after scanning into a theme park (subject to availability). It is not currently possible to add Lightning Lane Multi Pass to theme park tickets that have already been purchased until entering a theme park. As soon as your theme park ticket has been scanned (and your photo has been taken) at the park entrance, reopen the Disneyland app and select the three bars at the bottom of the screen. Tap "Lightning Lane Passes" and choose which Lightning Lane pass you would like to purchase. Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets Guests skip the standby lines on many attractions, whereas
Lightning Lane Single Pass can only be used on a specific attraction (currently
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland Park or
Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure Park).
Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass are subject to availability, although I have never had an issue with purchasing them after entering a theme park. In fact, I have a
Magic Key pass, and I cannot purchase Lightning Lanes ahead of time, but I use them during most trips to Disneyland. After buying Lightning Lane Multi Pass and making my first Lightning Lane reservation, I typically use the standby lines for the first couple of attractions when the lines are often shorter and save my Lightning Lane reservations for later in the day.
Make sure to download the
Disneyland app if you have not done so already. The app can be used both to enter the theme parks and to make Lightning Lane reservations. It also has many helpful features, including park maps, wait times, entertainment schedules, and more. I'm also a huge fan of
mobile ordering my family's meals on the app! It is so easy! I usually pre-order our food at least two hours before we want to eat to help ensure our preferred dining time is available.
Deborah, I hope this answers your question. Please reach out to planDisney again if you need additional information!
Magic Happens!
