Hey there, Alycia, and welcome back to planDisney!
Disney gift cards are my go-to when I'm on Disney property. They help me stay on budget, and I know I can use them anywhere on Disney property.
The only thing is, is that you can’t actually add a Disney Gift Card directly to your
MagicBand or
My Disney Experience account. The MagicBand itself doesn’t store any payment information; it just links to the payment method you’ve set up at your
Disney Resort.
If you're staying at a Disney resort and you’d like to use a Disney Gift Card to pay for purchases you make with your MagicBand during your stay, a good option is to stop by the front desk at your resort each evening. You can ask them to provide a list of all of your purchases, and then you can apply your gift card toward the balance of any room charges made that day. This way, your purchases are still convenient with your MagicBand, but you’re using your gift card to cover them before they charge to your credit card on file. It’s an easy way to stay on budget while still taking advantage of the MagicBand’s convenience.
Any charges that you want to avoid being charged to your card on file, just be sure to stop by the
Front Desk each evening before heading to bed.
I like to do this each evening just to keep track of spending and make sure everything’s paid how I want before the charges process overnight. It only takes a few minutes, and the Cast Members at the front desk are always happy to help. It’s a simple way to enjoy all the convenience of your MagicBand without missing out on the flexibility of using your Disney Gift Cards.
Toodles,
Korliss
