Hey there, hi there, ho there Julie!
You and your thoughtful questions are as welcome as can be at planDisney. I hear you're planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. The 18-month
50th Anniversary Celebration continues through March 2023 and is delivering some amazing party favors. These days, my social media feed is full of rave reviews for EPCOT's newest attraction,
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This attraction is currently accessed via a
virtual queue or an
Individual Lightning Lane purchase. Both require the
My Disney Experience mobile app and, in my experience, it's never too early to practice that in-app thumb choreography!
The My Disney Experience mobile app is the most-used mousketool during my family's Disney park days. From the comfort of my Disney Resorts Collection hotel bed, I can book our first
Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction at 7:00 a.m. While waiting in line for an attraction, I can plan ahead and place my family's
Mobile Food and Beverage order for lunch. I can even use the app to download a
Disney MagicMobile pass, which turns my Apple Watch into a MagicBand at access points throughout the theme parks.
A Disney gift card can certainly be used for payments in the My Disney Experience mobile app, Julie. When completing a Mobile Food and Beverage order, for example, my iPhone requires me to click "Use a Different Payment Method" if I do not wish to use Apple Pay. I then click "Add a Card" under "Payment Methods," select "Disney Gift Card or Disney Dining Card," and enter the 16-digit card number. You can even scan the barcode of certain types of gift cards.
At this time, Disney gift cards cannot be saved to your My Disney Experience account as a method of payment. That pixie-dusted convenience is reserved for credit and/or debit cards (three small lines at the bottom right of the home screen --> My Profile --> Payment Method). My time-saving tip is to save your gift card number as a note on your phone so you can copy and paste it instead of typing in all of the numbers each time. Up to five Disney gift cards can be used during one transaction, in combination with a credit or debit card as needed.
We hope to see you at planDisney again real soon, Julie. Why? Because we like you!
Choose magic,
Jennifer
