Hi Christy!
We're thrilled you stopped by planDisney with your question. With the
70th Anniversary off and running throughout the resort, there is so much to "Celebrate Happy" about! First things first, let's make sure you're set up for a successful day at the Happiest Place on Earth.
I can see that you are from the East Coast and may be familiar with visits to Walt Disney World, where the My Disney Experience App allows Guests to build a Friends and Family List. The
Disneyland App functions a bit differently, and while there is no Friends and Family List, you can still link to everyone in your party and book
Lightning Lanes together. I'm happy to walk you through these steps!
First, you'll want to open up the Disneyland App and head to the three-line icon in the bottom right-hand corner and select "My Tickets & Passes". If you tap the "+" in the top right-hand corner, you will see the option to "Link Tickets & Passes". To link another Guest to your account, you can simply scan the barcode from another Guest's smartphone, manually type in the ticket ID number located under the barcode, or tap their MagicBand+. Now, their ticket should show up in your "My Tickets & Passes", and you will see them as an option to include in your Lightning Lane party. Note that this process is one-way; if you would like to link your ticket to your daughter's account, she would need to scan, type, or tap your ticket to her app as well. If you are traveling with a group of adults, I'd recommend that everyone link to each other. This will allow anyone in your party to book Lightning Lanes for the group, or anyone can peel off to book Lightning Lanes on their own. I know that not everyone has the same pixie-dusted priorities, so this gives everyone a little freedom in the magic!
When it comes to Lightning Lanes at Disneyland, I recommend taking a look at the attractions that offer them ahead of time, as these can differ from those at Disney World as well. I travel between the two resorts a few times a year, and I always like to re-familiarize myself to ensure a smooth park day. Sometimes, attractions can come on and off the Lightning Lane availability list as well, so it's a good step in the planning process to just take a quick peek. When you open the app and tap the "+" in the bottom navigation bar, select "Book a Lightning Lane Entry". Once you reach the "Tip Board", toggle the "Show Only Lightning Lane Experiences" to green. This will give you availability at a glance and is a helpful tool while you're on the ground.
Christy, I'm wishing you magic during your visit! If you have any more questions while you are planning, we are always here for you at
planDisney! Be sure to check out the
70th Anniversary Guide on the Disney Parks Blog to be clued in to all the festivities and get ready to Celebrate Happy!
Magic awaits!
