Welcome to planDisney, Courtney!
It’s so nice to meet you, and thanks for stopping by. I love your thinking and love to hear that you are looking to extend your trip. This is probably my biggest weakness. I tend to extend every visit, every time. I have a hard time saying “see ya real soon” to
my favorite place, so postponing leaving is the best solution.
There are two ways to add days to your existing resort reservation. The first is my favorite way, and that is by
calling the Walt Disney World Resort. Make sure to have your confirmation number handy so that you can give that to the Cast Member when you call. A Cast Member on the other line will be more than happy to modify your existing plans or look to find a new resort to accommodate your new travel dates. You might even want to consider a split stay.
My family usually books at a
Value Resort on our arrival or departure date, since we will be spending the least amount of time in our rooms on these days. Then move over to our preferred resort. Although I’ll be honest, we usually just book as a Value Resort in general because we prefer to splurge in the parks on souvenirs, snacks, and
dining experiences.
The other option you have is to modify your reservation online. You’ll first sign in to your My Disney Experience account. Click on “
My Plans” and scroll down until you find the resort reservation you want to modify. To the right of your reservation information, you will see a rectangle that says “Change Reservation”. Click on that to open up the existing reservation so that you can try and modify it on your end.
If you don’t see the option to do this online, that's okay! You’ll just want to shift back to plan A and give Walt Disney World a call. Courtney, I hope this helps answer your question. Have an incredible visit, and if there’s anything else we can help with, you know where to find us!
See ya real soon,
Shantel
