How do I add a celebration or special seating request to an existing dining reservation? I can't find it on the website or app. I assume I need to call? Or can I just let them know when we arrive for our reservation?

Hi Tammy, and welcome to planDisney! Your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth is getting so close. Before you know it, you’ll be strolling down Main Street, U.S.A. with an unforgettable view of Cinderella Castle! It sounds like you are celebrating something special, so let’s add a little extra pixie dust to your dining plans!

When I have a special occasion, I like to call ahead and have it noted in my reservation. If you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel or have booked a package, a Cast Member can add your celebration to your overall reservation. Once it’s added there, it will typically show up on all of your dining reservations, as well as your hotel reservation. If you are not staying at a Disney hotel, you can still call to have the celebration added to a specific dining reservation. I also always like to provide this information again when checking in at the dining location.

For special seating, your best bet is to make your request when you arrive at the restaurant. While seating requests can’t be guaranteed, in my experience Cast Members will always do their best to accommodate them, when possible. If the seating request is really important to you, you could also let the Cast Member know you are willing to wait longer to be seated. I’ve had some success with this approach, but it really depends on timing and availability in that section of the restaurant.

Another way to make your celebration feel extra special is by ordering a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake. These can be pre-ordered at many table service restaurants and come in several flavors. They serve about 4-6 people and currently cost $45 (subject to change). You can also personalize them with a message like “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations”!

Bonus tip: Consider wearing a celebration button! You can pick up a complimentary button at your resort hotel front desk, theme park Guest Relations, or at the register at most merchandise locations. Cast Members often notice them and may add a little extra pixie dust to your day. We had a wonderful server at 50’s Prime Time Cafe a few weeks ago who noticed it was my daughter’s birthday and not only brought her a special dessert, but had the entire room sing “Happy Birthday” to her! It instantly became one of those core Disney memories we’ll treasure forever and made her birthday so special!

Tammy, I hope your visit to Walt Disney World is filled with many magical moments! If you have any more questions, stop back by and see me. I’m here to help you plan a visit that is practically perfect in every way!

With faith, trust, & pixie dust,
    Casey
