Hi JoAnne!
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for sending this great Disneyland Resort vacation planning question our way! Oooooh, your visit to Mickey's original house is so soon! You must be getting SO excited, JoAnne!
Vacation Packages are great options for when you want to kind of 'set it and forget it', and have everything done for you all in one place. You can certainly upgrade the current
Disneyland Resort Theme Park Ticket options and
Disney Resort Hotel room that you already have into a package by adding flights, and possibly other fun extras. These kinds of additions can only be done by calling the Vacation Package line, the phone number of which is (714) 520-5060. And while you're making this arrangement don't forget to inquire about transportation options they have as well.
Personally I've found that there are usually better deals and more flight time options when I shop around and book flights myself. A lot of the top carriers are currently hosting travel sales, some of which have me thinking I might try to escape to sunny SoCal soon too! If you decide to book your own travel, John Wayne Airport (airport code SNA) in Santa Ana is the closest flightline to Disneyland Resort. Los Angeles International (LAX) and Ontario International (ONT) are about the same distance - 33 miles - away; LAX usually has more options but I love the small size and ease in breezing through security at Ontario. And the Burbank airport (BUR) is just a few more miles to the North, but you get the whole LA experience by driving directly through downtown and past some famous sights, like Griffith Park. If you do decide to book your own flights, don't forget about transportation. Renting a car might be your best bet if you want to head to other locations while you're in town. However, if you're on the fence about renting, I want you to have a heads up that LAX requires all taxi and app-base ride hailing patrons to meet in one location (the 'LAX-it Lot') that is all outdoors and can be quite congested, and that Uber does not pick up or drop off at ONT. (Lyft, however, does.)
I hope this helped to clEAR some decisions up for you, JoAnne. And if you have any more
Disneyland Resort planning questions, We're All Ears!
