Must I actually USE two tier 2 FP's at Epcot b4 getting a 2nd tier 1? Will the system allow me to get another tier 1 after the two tier 2's expire, even if unused? Or am I allowed to only book one tier 1, use it, then get another tier 1 same day?

Hey, Glenn, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I really appreciate the FastPass+ system for how easy it makes our days in the theme parks. With the older FastPass system, I was always one step ahead of my family and would swing wide at certain paths to grab a FastPass ticket at, for instance, Jungle Cruise with plans to meet them at Splash Mountain. We were constantly dividing up and quite honestly, I was worn out at the end of the day! Now, all guests with Disney Theme Park Tickets are welcome to hop on My Disney Experience mobile app and preplan up to three FastPass+ for each day. No more running all over the place!

Let's chat about the second part of your questions first. You will not be able to just make one Tier One FastPass+ selection, use it, and then make another Tier One. If you attempt to do this, the system will cue you that you need to use two selections from Tier Two before choosing another Tier One. Once you have used, or once the time has expired on all three of your selections, then it will allow you to pick another Tier One choice. So, the answer to the first part of your question is that you do not actually have to use those Tier Two selections. You do have the option to let their time expire. One caveat to consider with this is that occasionally, the system will hit a snag and you will need to stop by one of the in-park FastPass+ kiosks to have the Cast Member override it. In my personal experience, I have had instances where the Tier Two selections expired and I was able to make another Tier One without any problem as long as I waited for a bit of time after the last expired FastPass+, say 30 minutes. However, I did have one instance where I had to get a Cast Member to override that last expired FastPass+ before it would let me proceed.

    I hope this helps!
