Hi Jocelyn!
I’m so happy to hear that your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World includes a stay at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This is such a great choice - especially when traveling with a toddler! My oldest is now a teenager, but his first Walt Disney World Resort stay was at the Contemporary when he was just 17 months old. It could not have been more perfect!
Jocelyn, one of my favorite things about the Contemporary is its proximity to
Magic Kingdom Park. Being able to walk between your resort and the park is a big benefit for families, particularly when traveling with strollers and little ones that may still need a midday nap. If your family wants to break up your park day, stopping by one of the
pools at the Contemporary is a perfect idea. There is even a water play area specifically designed for young Mouseketeers! When you’re ready to grab a bite to eat, you can use
Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering from
Contempo Café and enjoy your meal poolside if you’d like.
planDisney Pro Tip - Make sure to check the
activities schedule online or in the hotel lobby when you arrive to learn more about family fun happening around the resort, such as poolside games, dance parties, and campfires.
Another activity your toddler will likely enjoy is
character dining. While you’ll find locations throughout the resorts and parks, you won’t need to leave your hotel for a chance to enjoy one of the most popular choices -
Chef Mickey’s! Character dining is available at this location for breakfast and dinner, with buffet service offered at both. My boys have always been picky eaters, so we tend to prefer breakfast, which includes favorites like eggs, bacon, fruit, and, of course, Mickey Waffles! We've found character dining is a wonderful opportunity for our kids to meet some of their favorite Disney friends without waiting in line inside the parks. Want more great news? If your little one is under 3, they can dine here for FREE!
I mentioned that my oldest is now a teenager, but I still have a preschooler at home as well, and one of his favorite things at Walt Disney World is exploring the transportation options. With that in mind, I'd suggest taking a
boat ride from the Contemporary to
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, where your toddler can check out
Tri-Circle-D Ranch. It's not only a beautiful ride to the resort, but it can also be a fun alternative to the parks one afternoon!
Jocelyn, this is just a small sampling of the fun that awaits you and your little one at Disney's Contemporary Resort! If you have more questions or would like additional suggestions, please visit us again at planDisney - we're all ears!
Cheers!
