What activities are there to do while the runners are running the marathon this January? If you are not paying for cheer squad are you only allowed at the end of the race ?

Hello Sharon! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My wife and I are currently training for the upcoming 2019 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and will be, for the first time, competing in the same event as our kids are not traveling with us. In the past, the remaining adult has stayed with our 2 kids and arranged some alternative activity to occupy the time before the runner returns.

If you do not purchase the Cheer Squad Experience, you can still find yourself cheering on runners from various locations throughout Walt Disney World. When my wife ran the half marathon for the Star Wars Rival Race Weekend, we were staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort and were able to find a spot in front of the Resort Hotel to cheer her as she passed by.

The most invaluable tool for this experience is the Runner Tracking tool offered through RunDisney. The tracking device located in the Running Bibs for RunDisney Races makes it possible to track your runner and be in a position to see them run by without having to wait expectantly for hours until they arrive.

We have never missed mom using this technique and having a planned spot on the running routes.

While moms away, my favorite activities to do with our kids are Breakfast Character Dining at Locations close to the running route or swimming at the Resort Pool(if our Resort Hotel is close to the route).

    Have a Magical Marathon Weekend.
