Hi Kim,
Welcome to planDisney! This question makes me so happy!! There’s something so special about soaking in the magic of Walt Disney World Resort outside the parks! As someone who lives just a monorail dream away, I can tell you firsthand: the magic doesn’t stop at the park gates.
Kim, my top rec for a ticket-less Disney day starts with a stroll around
Disney Springs. It’s one of my favorite go-tos for grown-up fun! You’ll find amazing restaurants (
The BOATHOUSE and
Wine Bar George are top-tier), unique shopping, and entertainment like live music and the
vintage Amphicar rides. If you’re a foodie or wine lover (trust me!), you could spend an entire evening just hopping from one delicious spot to the next.
Looking for a little more zen? Book
a spa service at The Grand Floridian Spa. It’s the ultimate in Disney luxury and relaxation. Or, if you're more into low-key lounging, resort hopping is a must. I love grabbing a coffee and wandering through the lobbies of Disney’s Polynesian or
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. You’ll find amazing details, art, and even savanna views, and no ticket is required!
Another personal favorite? Catching the
Electrical Water Pageant or fireworks from a resort beach or restaurant. The beaches at the Poly or the outdoor patio at
Geyser Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are perfect spots to enjoy the show with a cocktail in hand.
And don’t forget, guests of Disney Resorts Collection hotels can enjoy pools, movies under the stars, and other amenities all the way through checkout day. It’s the perfect excuse to sleep in, soak up the sun, and slow down your magic just a little.
Whether you’re looking to relax or feel like a kid again (but with grown-up snacks), you’ll find something special waiting for you outside the parks, too. Sometimes those “in-between” moments end up being the most magical ones of all.
Wishing you the perfect pixie-dusted grown-up getaway,
Emille
