Hi there, Danielle!
Always fun to see a question from a fellow Utahn! Thanks for letting us be part of your vacation planning!
I love that there are
special activities offered at the Disneyland Resort Hotels for guests. It's the perfect way to keep the magic going strong! I took a peek at the schedule for the days you mentioned and it does look like weekends are a little quieter when it comes to formal activities. But I'd be happy to give you some suggestions based on what my family does when we have a day at the resort when we don't go into the parks!
First, I do see a tour of the Disneyland Hotel currently planned for March 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM but it's a good idea to ask at the hotel when you check in to confirm that date and time. You're welcome to ask if there are any additional activities, too! The hotel is full of historical photographs and other Disney history. Don't miss the model of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Frontier Tower lobby!
You're also welcome to request a tour of the new Disney Vacation Club Villas in the Discovery Tower at the Disneyland Hotel. My husband and I did this on our last visit and they are beautiful! The Disney art in this new space is just stunning. It's worth a look!
Visiting the lobby of Disney's Grand California Hotel and Spa is also a wonderful way to pass the time. It's a very cozy space, perfect for enjoying a treat from the Grand Californian Great Hall Cart (they usually have some delicious cookies). There's even a spot for kids to watch cartoons!
One of my favorite spots to grab a quick bite near the hotels is
Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar and Grill. In the morning you can grab the incredible Tangaroa Toast (SO good) and in the afternoon you can snack on things like pork gyoza, panko-crusted long beans, and DOLE Whip! I also visited the new
Palm Breeze Bar on my last trip and was really happy with all of our food. Lounging on a comfortable couch outside with a delicious pizza? That sounds like vacation to me!
Maybe you'd like to venture into the
Downtown Disney District to explore! There are some very fun shops here for kids and you can get many of the same treats we love in the parks like caramel apples and fudge from
Marceline's Confectionary. You could also go bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes, where they also offer food and live performers. Sometimes there's
live entertainment on the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage, too!
There's so much to do around the Disneyland Resort, Danielle! I hope you'll find lots of magical ways to pass the time when you aren't in the theme parks. Have a wonderful visit!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
