What activities are available at Fort Wilderness now? I heard Mickeys Backyard BBQ is gone? Do you still have movies at night with Chip and Dale?

Welcome to planDisney, Sandra! Thanks so much for asking us this question about Fort Wilderness activities. I'm happy to see you have a vacation planned to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth!

I just visited Disney's Wilderness LodgeThe Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, and The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort for the first time in December. These Disney Resorts Collection locations are so fun and I am amazed at how many great recreation options are offered! One of our family's favorite recreational activities to enjoy is Movies Under the Stars! The front desk can provide the most up-to-date schedule for you. While Chip and Dale do not make an appearance at this experience, they are known to scurry around the woodlands. Bring your binoculars because you never know when these lovable chipmunks might show up at the resort to cause some mischief, especially if acorns are involved!

There are many other great activities you can plan to enjoy! These resorts offer complimentary campfire activities, weather permitting, where you can gather around the fire and roast marshmallows. Bike Rentals and catch-and-release Fishing are some other activities your family might enjoy. My personal favorite activity is to visit Tri-Circle-D Ranch to see Cinderella's Ponies and the beautiful horses that are part of the magic on Main Street, U.S.A.! There are also recreational options available at the ranch such as Horseback Riding and Pony Rides. If you prefer a Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride, this is available at Fort Wilderness and advanced reservations are recommended for this as well as for horseback riding. You can reserve either of these Enchanting Extras Collection Experiences by calling (407) 939-7529 up to 60 days in advance of your check-in date.

As you are planning, be sure to check out all of the fun happenings during The Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration! There is so much to see and do and the magic awaits you! If you have additional questions, please visit us again at planDisney!

    Happy Planning!
